Economy

New Home Sales from the Census Bureau were up by more than expected in March.

The median sale price of new homes was up 6.0% from the previous month but remains more than -12% below the 2022 peak, as home builders continue to offer incentives to encourage sales.

Pending Home Sales from the National Association of Realtors was up 3.4% in March, beating forecasts.

Preliminary GDP for the first quarter of 2024 came in quite a bit lower than forecasted at 1.6%. Continued signs of a stagflationary environment, show the Fed's predicament with whether or not to ease monetary conditions moving forward.

Regenerative Agriculture

Brown's Ranch

Gabe and Shelly purchased the ranch from Shelly’s parents in 1991 and grew the operation to 5000 acres of owned and leased land.

Improving soil health is a priority and no-till farming has been practiced since 1993.  A diverse cropping strategy, which includes cover and companion crops are used.  The Browns have now eliminated the use of synthetic fertilizers, fungicides, and pesticides. They use minimal herbicide and are striving to eliminate it.  They do not use  use GMOs or glyphosate.

The second video on this link has Gabe Brown describing how he builds healthy soil,  and a commercial regenerative farming operation at scale.
